The Pokémon Bank is a downloadable online application for the Nintendo 3DS that is available for the Nintendo eShop. It serves as a complement to the Pokémon Storage System, and is compatible with Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. A companion application, Poké Transporter, also allows for the Generation V core games Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 to connect to the Pokémon Bank service as well. Updates to both applications were released January 24, 2017 to add compatibility between Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Sun and Moon and between Poké Transporter and the Virtual Console releases of the Generation I games.
